Linux Administrator (SC Cleared)

• £56–£62 per hour via Umbrella
• Willingness to be on-site in Stevenage
• Initial 6-month contract
• SC Clearance required

ABOUT THE CLIENT

Our client operates within a highly regulated, engineering-led environment where technology underpins complex simulation and systems development. They work at scale across secure infrastructure, supporting advanced engineering teams with high-performance computing and application platforms. Due to continued demand on their engineering infrastructure, they are looking for an experienced Linux Administrator to join the team on a contract basis.

THE LINUX ADMINISTRATOR ROLE

As a Linux Administrator, you will be part of a specialist team supporting engineering infrastructure primarily based on Linux across multiple network layers. You’ll be responsible for application support, HPC resource provisioning, infrastructure administration, and incident management, working closely with internal teams, third-party suppliers, and client stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

• Application installation, support, and upgrades
• Provisioning and support of HPC resources (e.g. Matlab environments)
• Administration of Red Hat Linux, Kickstart, and VMware systems
• Shell scripting and system automation
• Hardware diagnostics and system updates
• Managing, investigating, and resolving support tickets within SLA

LINUX ADMINISTRATOR ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Strong Linux administration experience (RHEL or similar)
• Strong hands-on Ansible experience
• Strong understanding of network protocols
• Git version control experience
• Excellent documentation skills
• Experience with Red Hat IDM, VMware, and Podman
• Active SC Clearance (mandatory)
