Overview

We're seeking a technically skilled Rail Systems Deployment and Maintenance Specialist to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with advanced survey equipment and data capture systems, ensuring they're optimally configured and ready for deployment.


You'll be the vital link between our survey teams and technical systems teams, taking responsibility for equipment preparation, installation support, commissioning, and troubleshooting. While you'll receive comprehensive training in our railway infrastructure monitoring systems, this role offers exposure to various survey technologies across our different business divisions.


Although you will be based at our office in Oxfordshire, the role is entry-level and requires flexibility for short-notice, field-based and lone work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, test and optimise survey and data capture equipment to ensure peak performance
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), documenting results and resolving issues
  • Support equipment installation and commissioning at client sites, including mounting systems on various platforms
  • Provide on-site technical support during deployments to ensure smooth operation and customer satisfaction
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment faults, coordinating repairs as needed
  • Manage equipment mobilisation and demobilisation logistics
  • Communicate effectively with clients during installation and commissioning activities
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and reference materials
  • Mentor junior technical staff, sharing knowledge and best practices


What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Hands-on experience with electronic equipment, instrumentation, or technical systems
  • Practical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
  • Strong attention to detail and methodical approach to testing and documentation
  • Good communication skills and customer-facing experience
  • Comfortable with travel and working at client sites
  • Full UK driving licence


Desirable:

  • Experience with survey equipment, sensors, or data acquisition systems
  • Understanding of acceptance testing procedures
  • Background in electronics, engineering, or related technical field
  • Experience with equipment installation or field service
  • Rail industry experience or awareness (training will be provided)
