Head of Natural Catastrophe Pricing

North Co Recruitment are working with a leading UK retail general insurer to appoint a Head of Natural Catastrophe Pricing to lead catastrophe risk strategy across a Home insurance portfolio. This is a senior technical leadership role with ownership of nat cat modelling, risk calibration and portfolio exposure, partnering closely with underwriting, capital and market pricing teams.

What you’ll do

• Own natural catastrophe pricing strategy across Home insurance, ensuring appropriate risk calibration and capital efficiency.
• Lead the development, validation and application of catastrophe models, hazard views and event loss metrics.
• Translate nat cat risk insight into actionable pricing, underwriting and portfolio management decisions.
• Partner with underwriting, reinsurance, capital and market pricing teams to influence risk appetite and strategy.
• Oversee stress testing, scenario analysis and exposure management across perils and regions.
• Ensure strong governance around model use, assumptions and regulatory expectations.
• Lead and develop a specialist nat cat / risk pricing team, setting technical standards and direction.

What we’re looking for

• Strong experience in natural catastrophe or risk pricing within retail General Insurance.
• Home insurance experience preferred, with exposure to UK and/or European peril structures.
• Deep understanding of catastrophe modelling, exposure management and event-based loss analysis.
• Ability to translate complex risk outputs into clear commercial and underwriting decisions.
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders across pricing, underwriting and capital functions.
• Proven technical leadership capability, with experience developing specialist teams.

Salary: C.£130k base, plus bonus & benefits.

Location: Hybrid working. London or Manchester
