Commercial Manager – Transmission & Renewables

Location: South West & South Wales

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Our client is delivering projects that keep the lights on—designing, constructing, and maintaining substations and transmission networks up to 400kV, while supporting renewable energy, EV, and decarbonisation initiatives.

We’re seeking a Commercial Manager to oversee multiple projects, lead commercial strategy, and develop high-performing teams in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

Your role will include:

• Leading the commercial strategy for all regional projects and tenders
• Reviewing contracts, identifying risks and opportunities, and reporting progress to senior management
• Partnering with Finance and Project teams to manage forecasts, cashflow, and business performance
• Building strong client and supplier relationships, resolving disputes, and securing new opportunities
• Overseeing procurement and contractual compliance while driving commercial improvements
• Coaching and mentoring staff to enhance knowledge and commercial capability

About you:

• Strong commercial background, ideally with substation experience, but experience in large infrastructure, highly regulated, or civils projects is equally valuable
• Degree-level education and expert knowledge of NEC 3/4, JCT, and FIDIC contracts
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
• Understanding of project controls and programme management
• Experience managing teams and multiple projects simultaneously
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally
