Our Client is hiring an experienced Packaging Engineering Project Manager to join their world-class manufacturing site in Cramlington, Northumberland. In this pivotal role, you will lead the delivery of advanced packaging solutions—driving and leading the design, installation, and commissioning of multiple new packing lines as part of a major capital site expansion, while ensuring full compliance with GMP, SHE, and regulatory standards.


This role involves travel to equipment vendors across the EU for design reviews, progress checks, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).


Key Responsibilities:


  • Deliver capital packing line scope on time and within budget.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and risk registers.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, GMP, SHE, and environmental regulations.
  • Review and approve vendor designs, specifications, and drawings.
  • Lead FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate installation contractors, OEMs, and internal teams.
  • Support equipment qualification (DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ) with validation team.
  • Act as single point of contact with OEMs and contractors for technical and contractual compliance.
  • Ensure seamless integration of new packing lines into production systems.
  • Drive equipment standardization and continuous improvement across projects.


Required Education, Experience & Skills:


  • Degree-level engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience delivering packaging or production equipment projects in regulated industries (Pharma, FMCG, etc.).
  • Knowledge of packing line equipment (cartoners, labellers, blister machines, case packers, vision systems, serialization).
  • Experience leading teams through design reviews, acceptance tests, and commissioning.
  • Strong vendor management skills, including international suppliers.
  • Expertise in commissioning, validation, and GMP compliance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and contractor supervision skills.
  • Project Management certification (Prince2, PMP) desirable but not essential.
