Head of Engineering

Salary: £150,000-£190,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Location: London - Hybrid 3 days onsite

We’re working with a rapidly growing tech for good company that is transforming how data, automation, and smart integrations shape the future of digital infrastructure. Their platform optimises real-time operations, connecting users with seamless, intelligent technology solutions.

They are looking for a Head of Engineering with a strong background of leading and setting the technical direction of high-performing engineering departments. This will be a position that will directly shape the growth and success of their tech ecosystem for the years to come, whilst collaborating closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to truly deliver impact at scale.

Key Responsibilities as Head of Engineering:

• Shape the long-term technical strategy and architecture, including how we build and scale AI and ML systems.
• Define how teams work together through clear charters, decision-making, planning, and collaboration.
• Set and uphold high engineering standards across agile delivery, testing, security, and documentation.
• Lead reliability practices including on-call design, SLIs, incident reviews, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Product to refine requirements and ensure technical feasibility and strong architecture.
• Hire, develop, and inspire talented engineers, building a culture of clarity, accountability, and growth.
• Oversee developer tools to boost productivity and quality.
• Collaborate closely with the executive team, bringing technical insight to shape broader company strategy.

Key Requirements:

• Experienced engineering leader with 6+ years leading multiple teams in product-driven environments.
• Strong technical background in cloud and distributed systems (experience with JVM languages like Java, Scala or Kotlin a bonus).
• Proven experience integrating AI/ML into live systems with measurable business outcomes.
• Excellent architectural judgement and a pragmatic approach to scaling systems and teams.
• Comfortable challenging ideas and communicating trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Known for building collaborative, high-performing cultures where people do their best work.
