Location: Hybrid (Remote / Essex-based) 

Contract: Part-time to Full-time (Phased) 

Salary: £50,000 FTE (Pro Rata during part-time phase) 

Start Date: ASAP 


Company Description

Aegis Care Shield is an independent fostering agency in Essex with a bold vision, to provide safe, nurturing, and stable homes for children and young people in need. We're seeking a dynamic, qualified, and experienced Registered Manager to help us through Ofsted registration and into full operational success. 


Role Description

This is a phased role: 

  • Phase 1 (Pre-Registration): 0.5 days/week to lead on Ofsted application, draft policies/procedures, and prepare for inspection. 
  • Phase 2 (Post-Registration): Full-time (5 days/week) as the operational lead of the agency.


Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and oversee the Ofsted registration process and inspection readiness 
  • Write and implement all required policies and procedures in line with fostering legislation and best practice 
  • Ensure the service is compliant with the Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 and National Minimum Standards 
  • Recruit, supervise, and support staff and carers 
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, record keeping, and care planning 
  • Lead the quality assurance, development, and continual improvement of the agency 
  • Be responsible for regulatory notifications and liaison with Ofsted 


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Experience (minimum qualifications to be considered)

  • Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW or equivalent) 
  • Registered with Social Work England 
  • At least 2 years' experience managing a fostering or children’s care service
  • Minimum of level 5 in Health and Social care management

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in managing a fostering agency or similar care setting
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, compliance, and fostering regulations 
  • Experience of Ofsted inspections are highly desirable 
  • Knowledge of child welfare policies and regulations
  • Strong leadership, report-writing, and communication skills 
  • Commitment to ethical, child-centred practice 
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
