Bid Writer

Harmony Fire is looking for a Bid Writer

Job description

Bid Writer (Senior)

About Harmony Fire

Harmony Fire is one of the UK’s fastest-growing life safety organisations, with a mission to make every home and building safer. As we continue to scale nationally, we are investing in a high-performing bid function capable of supporting complex tenders, new sector entry and strategic framework wins.

This is an opportunity to join a business where bids are seen as a critical growth engine, not an administrative function. You will play a key role in shaping how we present ourselves to the market, influencing how we win work and supporting the next phase of our expansion.

About the Role

As an experienced Bid Writer, you will take ownership of the production of high-quality, compelling tender submissions from kick-off through to final submission.

You will lead the writing and development of responses, working closely with operational, commercial and technical stakeholders to translate subject matter expertise into clear, client-focused, winning content.

Alongside writing, you will help shape bid strategy, response structure and messaging, ensuring every submission reflects Harmony Fire’s technical capability, delivery credibility and cultural values.

This role suits someone confident operating in a fast-growth environment, capable of managing multiple tenders simultaneously while maintaining exceptional quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end writing and coordination of tender submissions, PQQs, SQs and framework bids

• Interpret tender documentation and develop structured response plans and storyboards

• Write high-quality, persuasive responses that clearly articulate technical solutions, social value and delivery methodology

• Engage SMEs across Operations, Commercial, HSEQ and Leadership to extract technical content and proof points

• Challenge and refine input to ensure clarity, relevance and alignment to win themes

• Develop executive summaries and value propositions that differentiate Harmony Fire in competitive tenders

• Manage bid programmes, ensuring deadlines, review cycles and governance approvals are met

• Oversee document production, formatting and final submission quality

• Lead portal submissions and compliance checks across all tender platforms

• Support post-tender reviews, identifying lessons learned and improvement actions

• Contribute to the continuous development of bid libraries, case studies and standard responses

• Support the evolution of bid processes, tools and quality standards as the function matures

Key Requirements

• Proven experience as a Bid Writer within construction, fire safety, life safety, engineering or related sectors

• Demonstrable experience leading tender responses end-to-end

• Strong writing capability, able to translate technical information into compelling client-focused submissions

• Experience responding to public and private sector tenders and frameworks

• Ability to develop win themes, messaging and structured response strategies

• Highly organised, able to manage multiple concurrent submissions to tight deadlines

• Advanced Microsoft Word and PowerPoint capability, including complex document structuring

• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with confidence working at senior levels

• Commercial awareness and understanding of bid drivers, evaluation criteria and scoring mechanisms
