Core Mission: As a core member of our UK& EU region business development team, you will lead energy storage project development (from early development phase to RtB) and drive investment/financing activities in UK&EU region.

The role will have a key focus on developing a pipeline of Utility Scale Storage projects, with the business targeting both greenfield development and early development acquisitions within the UK&EU region market.

There are considerable investment confirmed into the Development arm of the business for the coming years meaning a blank canvas for a creative Development Associate who really wants to get their teeth into developing innovative utility scale projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and analyze UK&EU region electricity market structures, pricing mechanisms, ancillary service demands, grid services and price trends.
  2. Identify, screen, and evaluate energy storage project opportunities (greenfield, brownfield, co-location) in pre-RTB stages and RtB stage.
  3. Manage key development workflows: site selection, land acquisition, grid access applications, environmental/planning permits, M&A activities, inputs into the Financial Model and local resource coordination.
  4. Identify new potential utility-scale projects through various sources including utilizing a data-driven software-based approach to identify projects and land to target.
  5. Oversee land acquisition efforts. Involvement in direct landowner negotiations, also managing external land agent partners.
  6. Represent the company to external/key stakeholders including local councils
  7. and government, officials, consultants, landowners.
  8. Manage all aspects of the project development process (grid connection, land acquisitions, permitting, environmental studies, leading public hearing processes, creating and maintaining relationships with local stakeholders, etc).
  9. Work closely with internal company departments (engineering, finance, legal, operations) to identify and minimize project risks. Implement solutions to maximize project value.
  10. Work with technical team and external consultants to assist with the grid connection process.
  11. Create and manage project budgets and schedules. This includes acting as project lead internally and overseeing external consultants.

Requirements:

  1. Experience: Minimum 5 years in energy/power sectors, covering project development, technical, project M&A activities, and engineering management.
  2. Skills:
  3. Mastery of delivering projects from inception, through development, and into RtB stage.
  4. Proven track record in UK&EU region energy storage project development, M&A, or asset rotation.
  5. Fundamental knowledge of key determining factors for designing a constructable and bankable BESS project.
  6. Experiences of developing projects from RtB to FID and COD will be beneficial advantangeous.
  7. Communication: Exceptional negotiation and stakeholder management skills (technical teams, investors, legal, land owners and government agencies).
  8. Education: Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related fields.
  9. Language: Fluent in English (written/spoken); additional languages are a plus.
  10. Mobility: Ability to travel frequently within UK&EU region.
