Senior Backend Developer – Node.js, TypeScript, Kafka - up to £70k

Leading E-commerce Brand | Up to £70,000 | Hybrid (2 days/week in London)

We’re partnering with a leading e-commerce business that’s scaling a modern, event-driven platform to support high transaction volumes and continued growth. They’re looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join a highly capable engineering team working with Node.js, TypeScript and Kafka.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be building and evolving distributed backend services in a fast-paced, product-focused environment.

The Role

• Build, maintain and improve backend services using Node.js and TypeScript
• Some experience with React
• Develop and support event-driven architecture, with Kafka at the core
• Collaborate with product, frontend and platform teams to deliver scalable e-commerce solutions
• Contribute to system design, performance optimisation and best engineering practices
• Take ownership of services from development through to production

What We’re Looking For

• Strong commercial experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Practical experience working with event-driven systems (Kafka experience preferred)
• Good understanding of distributed systems, scalability and reliability
• Experience working in complex backend environments (e-commerce is a plus)
• A collaborative mindset and a desire to build high-quality software
