Band 5 Therapeutic Radiographer | Oxford Cancer Centre (Oxford) | ASAP Start | Permanent or Long-Term
We’re recruiting a Band 5 Therapeutic Radiographer to join the Oxford Cancer Centre in Oxford. This is an ASAP start opportunity available on a permanent or long-term basis, ideal for a newly qualified or early-career radiographer looking to build strong experience in a leading radiotherapy service with excellent support and development.
The Role
As a Band 5 Therapeutic Radiographer, you’ll work as part of the radiotherapy team delivering safe, accurate, and compassionate care to patients undergoing treatment. You will:
- Support the delivery of radiotherapy treatments in line with IR(ME)R 2017 and local protocols
- Assist with patient set-up, imaging and verification (including supporting CBCT processes where trained)
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality and dignity at all times
- Carry out day-to-day equipment checks and support safe operation of radiotherapy equipment
- Provide clear, reassuring communication and support to patients and carers, including managing questions and concerns sensitively
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, escalating clinical concerns appropriately
- Take part in ongoing training, competencies and CPD, building skills across treatment and pre-treatment areas
- Contribute to a strong safety culture, including Quality Assurance and incident reporting processes
Working Pattern
- 37.5 hours per week
- Core hours: 08:00–18:30 (Mon–Fri) and 08:30–13:00 (Sat–Sun)
- You’ll be expected to participate in shift patterns, including weekends and bank holidays as required by the service
Essential Requirements
- BSc Radiotherapy (or equivalent)
- HCPC registration (or eligible to register)
- Good understanding of radiotherapy principles, anatomy, and patient care
- Strong communication skills and a caring, professional approach
- Commitment to learning, competency development, and working safely within protocols
Desirable (Nice to Have)
- NHS radiotherapy placement or post-registration experience
- Interest in developing skills in advanced techniques, imaging/verification, and service improvement
