Digital IC Design Engineer

Octagon Group is looking for a Digital IC Design Engineer

Job description

Salary: Circa £80,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

The Opportunity

A global semiconductor design organisation is seeking a Digital IC Design Engineer to join its growing engineering team in Hampshire (near Southampton). This role sits within a highly experienced digital design group developing production silicon across advanced power, mixed-signal, and SoC platforms.

You’ll work on end-to-end digital IC design and development, collaborating closely with verification, physical design, and system teams to deliver high-quality, manufacturable silicon used in automotive, industrial, IoT, and data-centric applications.

This is a technically hands-on role within a structured, best-practice-driven engineering environment, offering long-term career progression and exposure to complex, real-world products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Digital IC / ASIC design from architecture and specification through to tape-out
  • RTL development (Verilog / SystemVerilog) for complex digital blocks and SoCs
  • Collaboration with verification teams on functional coverage and design closure
  • Support synthesis, timing closure, and design sign-off activities
  • Work closely with physical design teams to ensure robust, manufacturable implementations
  • Support silicon bring-up, debug, and subsequent revisions

Required Experience

  • Strong background in Digital IC / ASIC Design
  • Proven RTL development experience (Verilog or SystemVerilog)
  • Solid understanding of clocking, reset strategies, low-power design, and timing concepts
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary semiconductor design teams
  • Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools and modern digital design flows
  • Ability to work on-site in Hampshire (hybrid flexibility may be available)

Why Join?

  • Permanent role with a salary around £80,000, depending on experience
  • Work on shipping silicon used in high-volume, revenue-generating products
  • Exposure to complex SoCs and advanced power / mixed-signal platforms
  • Technically strong leadership and well-established design processes
  • Clear long-term career progression within a global semiconductor organisation

If you’re a Digital IC Design Engineer looking to deepen your technical impact while working on real-world, high-performance silicon, this is an excellent opportunity.
