Environmental Test & Validation Engineer

Eclectic Recruitment Ltd is looking for a Environmental Test & Validation Engineer

Job description

Environmental Test & Validation Engineer

Are you a hands-on engineer who enjoys proving that complex mechanical systems perform reliably in demanding conditions? We’re looking for an Environmental Test & Validation Engineer to join a growing engineering team focused on testing and validating advanced electromechanical products used in safety-critical applications.

This role will suit someone who enjoys working close to hardware, planning and executing trials, and analysing real-world test data to support product development and qualification.

You’ll be part of a newly formed validation and proving team responsible for demonstrating that products meet performance requirements across a wide range of mechanical, climatic and environmental conditions. Working across the full development lifecycle, you’ll support activities from early de-risking through to formal qualification.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Planning and designing bespoke environmental and mechanical test campaigns
  • Specifying and setting up instrumentation, fixtures and test stimuli
  • Preparing for trials by leading readiness reviews and ensuring safety, facilities and equipment are in place
  • Coordinating logistics and availability of test hardware, software and facilities
  • Supporting hands-on execution of testing in specialist environments such as temperature, vibration and shock facilities
  • Recording, analysing and interpreting test data against defined requirements
  • Producing clear, accurate technical reports to support development decisions and certification activities
  • Acting as a technical interface between engineering teams, test facilities and external stakeholders
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of test methods and validation approaches
  • Potentially mentoring or leading other engineers as the team grows

Candidate Experience:

Essential:

  • A practical, hands-on engineering mindset with a strong interest in testing and validation
  • Experience or understanding of mechanical systems and environmental testing principles
  • A structured, detail-oriented approach to planning and executing technical work
  • Confidence in analysing and reporting complex technical data
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to manage multiple activities effectively

Desired:

  • Experience working with environmental test facilities (temperature, humidity, vibration, shock, etc.)
  • Familiarity with recognised environmental or military/industrial test standards
  • A degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Physics or a related discipline

Due to the nature of the work, this role requires UK nationality and the ability to obtain security clearance. The position is primarily site-based, particularly during active test campaigns, with occasional travel to external test facilities.
