Engineering Surveyor – Earthworks

Location: Leiston, Suffolk

Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 + car & package

Alternatively: Competitive day rate (DOE)

Accommodation: Available if required

The Role

An established earthworks contractor is seeking an experienced Engineering Surveyor to support major bulk earthworks and muck-shift operations on a project based in Leiston.

This role would suit a surveyor with strong hands-on site experience, capable of working independently in a fast-paced earthworks environment. Both permanent and freelance candidates will be considered, with accommodation available for those working away from home.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain site control
• Set up and manage GPS base stations
• Carry out topographical surveys using GPS and total station
• Setting-out for bulk earthworks operations
• Quantify stockpiles and carry out earthworks volume analysis
• Independently check office design models for accuracy and constructability
• Check, calibrate, and maintain surveying and machine control equipment
• Liaise with the client to obtain and clarify technical information
• Complete site QA documentation and records

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Engineering Surveyor on bulk earthworks / muck-shift projects
• Strong GPS and total station capability
• Experience with earthworks modelling, volumes, and stockpile analysis
• Ability to work independently and manage surveying responsibilities on site
• Good communication skills for client and site team liaison
• Full UK driving licence
