Job description
Gap Personnel is working in partnership with a well-established, privately owned engineering business based in Oldbury, West Midlands.
Due to significant business growth and organisational restructuring, we are recruiting an experienced Maintenance Manager (Multi-Skilled) to strengthen the maintenance and engineering function across the business.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining technical expertise with people and project management, supporting both reactive and planned maintenance while driving continuous improvement.
Duties and responsibilities as a Maintenance Manager:
- Lead and manage all mechanical and electrical maintenance activities across two sites
- Plan, manage and improve the preventive maintenance (PM) schedule
- Fault find and repair pumps, motors, impellors, pneumatics and fluid systems
- Project manage engineering and maintenance improvement projects
- Report against monthly engineering objectives and KPIs
- Ensure machinery uptime, reliability and compliance with operational requirements
- Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring full Health & Safety compliance
- Support out-of-hours call-outs and provide shift cover when required
Key skills and qualifications required as a Maintenance Manager:
Technical / Engineering Skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance background
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
- Experience fault-finding on pumps, motors and fluid systems
- Understanding of pneumatics and fluid logic
- Automotive manufacturing background (preferred)
- Wet paint or coatings experience (preferred)
- ABB robotics experience (preferred)
Management & Professional Skills
- Proven experience managing maintenance or engineering teams
- Strong project management capability
- Experience using Excel-based PM systems
- Good PC skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across all levels
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
