Gap Personnel is working in partnership with a well-established, privately owned engineering business based in Oldbury, West Midlands.


Due to significant business growth and organisational restructuring, we are recruiting an experienced Maintenance Manager (Multi-Skilled) to strengthen the maintenance and engineering function across the business.


This is a hands-on leadership role, combining technical expertise with people and project management, supporting both reactive and planned maintenance while driving continuous improvement.


Duties and responsibilities as a Maintenance Manager:

  • Lead and manage all mechanical and electrical maintenance activities across two sites
  • Plan, manage and improve the preventive maintenance (PM) schedule
  • Fault find and repair pumps, motors, impellors, pneumatics and fluid systems
  • Project manage engineering and maintenance improvement projects
  • Report against monthly engineering objectives and KPIs
  • Ensure machinery uptime, reliability and compliance with operational requirements
  • Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring full Health & Safety compliance
  • Support out-of-hours call-outs and provide shift cover when required


Key skills and qualifications required as a Maintenance Manager:

Technical / Engineering Skills

  • Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance background
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Experience fault-finding on pumps, motors and fluid systems
  • Understanding of pneumatics and fluid logic
  • Automotive manufacturing background (preferred)
  • Wet paint or coatings experience (preferred)
  • ABB robotics experience (preferred)

Management & Professional Skills

  • Proven experience managing maintenance or engineering teams
  • Strong project management capability
  • Experience using Excel-based PM systems
  • Good PC skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across all levels
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
