Job description

Senior Health & Safety Advisor

Construction | West Midlands | Up to £55,000 + car allowance

A well-established construction contractor with a strong safety reputation is looking to appoint a Senior Health & Safety professional to support live construction projects across the West Midlands.

This is a site-facing, operational role for a health & safety professional who wants to be visible on site, influence behaviours, and take genuine ownership of standards, not sit behind spreadsheets.

The Role

This position is designed for someone who enjoys being embedded with project teams and making safety work in the real world.

You will support multiple construction sites regionally, with a clear emphasis on:

  • site presence over excessive travel
  • influence over paperwork
  • practical solutions over box-ticking

You will have the autonomy to manage your workload and the backing of a business that takes health & safety seriously.

Key Responsibilities

Site Audits & Compliance

  • Conduct site inspections and audits
  • Manage corrective actions and follow-through
  • Ensure compliance with UK legislation, client standards, and company systems

Coaching & Influence

  • Work closely with site managers, supervisors, and subcontractors
  • Challenge unsafe behaviours confidently and constructively
  • Promote a proactive, values-led safety culture

Ownership & Accountability

  • Take responsibility for safety performance across your region
  • Escalate issues where required and drive continuous improvement

About You

You will be a construction-focused H&S professional who is comfortable operating independently on live sites.

Essential

  • Strong construction health & safety background
  • Experience at Senior Advisor, H&S Manager, or Lead Consultant level
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • Confident on site and able to influence operational teams

Desirable

  • NEBOSH Diploma or working towards chartership
  • Experience engaging with senior management and clients

Package

  • Salary up to £55,000 (depending on experience)
  • Car allowance
  • Benefits package

Why Apply?

This is a role where:

  • your experience is respected
  • your voice carries weight on site
  • your impact is visible day to day

If you want a hands-on construction H&S role with real influence, this is worth a conversation.
