LEGGWORK is looking for a Utility Surveyor

Job description

Job Title: Senior Utility Surveyor

Location: Greater London and Surrounding Areas

Industry: UK Major Projects - Infrastructure

Salary Package: £36,000 - £55,000 (DOE), Company Van & Perks

Realistic Total Earnings: £70,000 – £100,000+ per annum

Company Overview:

Leggwork is working with a leading name in Land and Utility surveying, currently engaged on some of the UK’s largest and most high-profile infrastructure projects. With a strong pipeline of work across civil engineering, highways and utilities frameworks, they are now looking to bring in a Senior Utility Surveyor to support delivery across major schemes throughout the South East.

This is an opportunity to step into a senior role within a forward-thinking survey business, where your technical input will help shape nationally significant infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Utility Surveyor, you will play a lead role in delivering complex utility surveys to support ongoing project delivery. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing and conducting Utility and PAS128 surveys to a high technical standard
  • Mentoring junior surveyors and supporting team development on site
  • Using a range of specialist equipment including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Cat and Genny
  • Reviewing and compiling survey data for reporting and client submission
  • Liaising with clients, engineers and project teams to ensure smooth delivery
  • Maintaining strong health and safety standards on site

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Formal surveying qualification such as QCF, ProQual Level 5 or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Utility surveying with strong knowledge of PAS128
  • Proficiency with GPR and electromagnetic location tools
  • Ability to lead or supervise a team on site
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and working practices within civil infrastructure
  • Full UK driving licence (company van provided)
  • Background in civil engineering, highways, construction or utilities sectors
  • CSCS or equivalent site card

Benefits:

  • Salary between £36,000 - £55,000 depending on experience
  • Company van, fuel card and all necessary equipment provided
  • Opportunity to work on flagship infrastructure projects across the UK
  • Structured and real progression and support in a growing team
  • Perks including premium gym access, health benefits and ongoing training

Earning Potential – How This Role Pays Beyond the Basic:

While the basic salary sits between £36,000 – £55,000, this role offers strong additional earning potential beyond salary alone.

Surveyors benefit from:

  • Per-job payment structure, allowing multiple jobs completed in a day to be paid multiple times
  • Overtime rates for CAD work, rather than being absorbed into salary
  • Regular overtime availability across both site and office-based work
  • Structured development that leads to higher-value work and progression into senior roles

With consistent workload and reasonable overtime uptake, total annual earnings of £70,000 – £100,000+ are realistic, making this a strong option for surveyors looking to increase earnings while developing their skillset.
