Overview

An established and fast-growing organisation within the education and training sector is seeking a motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager to join its high-performing commercial team.


This role plays a key part in driving organisational growth through new business acquisition, strategic partnerships, and expansion of existing accounts. The successful candidate will be confident operating in a fast-paced environment, engaging with senior stakeholders, and identifying opportunities to deliver tailored, value-led solutions.

You will act as a key representative of the organisation, leading both remote and face-to-face meetings, understanding customer challenges, and supporting long-term growth ambitions within technical education.


Key Responsibilities

  • Own the full sales journey to identify, pursue and secure new and existing business opportunities
  • Prospect and generate your own leads, alongside converting inbound enquiries
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including education providers and public-sector bodies
  • Deliver against individual and team sales targets and KPIs
  • Apply a consultative sales approach to understand customer needs and recommend tailored solutions
  • Identify opportunities to maximise growth across a portfolio of products and services
  • Negotiate and finalise commercial agreements, ensuring profitable outcomes
  • Analyse sales and market data to inform targeted decision-making
  • Maintain accurate records within the CRM system
  • Provide regular performance updates and reports to senior management
  • Capture market intelligence to support future sales and marketing activity


Key Requirements

  • Full UK driving license
  • Proven success in new business generation within the business-to-business market
  • Ideally from a training, education or assessment background but not essential
  • Experience working to targets and KPIs in a performance-driven environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Confident negotiator with solid contract management experience
  • Excellent pipeline and CRM management
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships across diverse stakeholders
