The Role
We are looking for a Designer to join our team. This is a key role within the business, offering leadership responsibility and meaningful influence over the product direction of the brand. You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering commercially successful collections from concept through to final product, while managing our Senior Assistant Designer and supporting coordinating freelance designers where required. Working closely with Buying, Merchandising, Garment Technology and Marketing, you’ll ensure product is on brand, on time, and executed to the highest standard with our amazing manufacturing partners.
The right candidate will bring strong creative vision, commercial understanding and confident leadership, with the ability to balance hands-on design with team management and cross-functional collaboration.
You’ll be responsible for
Design ownership and creative direction
- Design and develop collections in line with brand strategy, customer insight and commercial objectives
- Own specific categories or from concept through to final sign-off
- Lead the development of mood boards, colour palettes, fabric direction, prints, and silhouettes
- Create and oversee CADs, artwork, and design packs to ensure clarity and consistency
- Work closely with Buying and Merchandising to ensure designs align with range plans, pricing architecture, and margin targets
Product development, fit and critical path
- Manage the design process from initial concept through sampling, fittings, and production approval
- Lead fit sessions in partnership with Garment Technologist and Buyer ensuring fit, quality, and construction standards are upheld
- Take ownership of the Critical Path for design, ensuring deadlines are met and risks are proactively managed
- Ensure product specifications, measurements, and design documentation are accurate and complete in design packs.
Leadership and team management
- Line manage experienced Junior Designer, providing clear direction, feedback and development support
- Allocate and oversee work across the Designer team inc freelance designers to ensure quality, consistency and timely delivery with accurate briefs
- Support recruitment, onboarding and mentoring within the design team as required
Cross-functional collaboration
- Partner closely with Buying, Merchandising, Garment Technology, Production, and Operations to ensure seamless product development
- Collaborate with Marketing on product storytelling, imagery, campaigns, and launches
- Support photoshoots by ensuring samples, styling direction and design details are clear and delivered on time
- Build strong working relationships with suppliers and factories in partnership with Production and Buying
Process, systems and continuous improvement
- Maintain high standards of organisation across design files, systems, and seasonal documentation
- Drive improvements in design processes, tools, and ways of working to support efficiency and creativity
- Ensure consistency and accuracy across all design-related systems and documentation
- Act as a role model for best practice, professionalism, and collaboration within the team
About You
- Proven experience as a Designer within a fashion or product-led brand
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end design and product development process
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members
- Confident using Adobe Creative Suite and CAD systems
- Strong eye for detail, colour, fabric and garment construction
- Commercially aware, with a clear understanding of customer, brand and margin
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Organised, proactive, and comfortable working at pace
- A collaborative leader with a positive, solutions-focused approach
