Position Overview

We are working with a fast-growing electrical distribution business who specialise in the design, delivery, adoption and long-term ownership of electricity networks supporting new build developments.


With a strong focus on safety, quality and customer outcomes, the organisation plays a key role in enabling the UK’s transition to a low-carbon energy system. As the delivery portfolio continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced ICP Project Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of contestable electricity connection projects across a range of voltage levels.


The role reports into the Senior Delivery Manager, with clear scope for progression as the business scales.


Key Responsibilities

As an ICP Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of electricity network projects from design acceptance through construction, commissioning and final adoption. You will coordinate internal teams, ICP delivery partners, DNO/IDNO stakeholders and end clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget and in line with technical and regulatory requirements.


In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the full lifecycle of ICP projects across LV, HV and EHV connections, including substations, cable routes, jointing and associated civils.
  • Coordinating design reviews, technical approvals and engineering deliverables in line with DNO/IDNO, ENA and internal specifications.
  • Managing project programmes, budgets, risk registers, procurement activities and commercial reporting.
  • Coordinating civil and electrical contractors, ensuring full compliance with CDM Regulations, health & safety legislation and internal governance.
  • Managing interfaces with DNOs, ICPs, clients, landowners, local authorities and third-party stakeholders.
  • Leading commissioning activities, testing, pre-energisation checks and energisation coordination with the relevant network operator.
  • Proactively identifying and managing technical, programme or commercial risks, escalating where appropriate.
  • Producing regular project reports, dashboards and KPI updates for internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Supporting adoption, handover and asset compliance processes in collaboration with Asset Management and Compliance teams.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered in line with ESQCR, G81, and relevant industry standards.


Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience delivering electricity network projects within an ICP, IDNO, DNO or utilities contractor environment.
  • Strong understanding of contestable works and the electricity connections process.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams, subcontractors and supply chains.
  • Good technical knowledge of substations, cable installation, switchgear and associated civils.
  • Experience managing NEC-based contracts and supplier performance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced delivery environment.

Desirable:

  • Authorised Person or SAP experience.
  • Experience across a range of voltage levels (LV–132kV).
  • Knowledge of G99, G5/5, ESQCR and DNO adoption requirements.
  • Experience delivering projects for EV charging, battery storage, renewable generation or data centre connections.
  • Background in IDNO adoption or asset transfer processes.
