Job description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Configuration Engineer to join a specialist engineering department supporting complex aerospace and defence programmes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide configuration control and engineering data management support across large, complex product assemblies
  • Interpret and manage technical data, drawings, and Bills of Materials to ensure accuracy and traceability
  • Prepare, maintain, and control configuration management documentation in line with project governance requirements
  • Manage and implement engineering design changes across multi-disciplinary teams, including preparation for and participation in change control meetings
  • Support configuration audits, including supplier audits, ensuring configuration management processes are adhered to throughout the supply chain
  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and project stakeholders to maintain robust control of product data
  • Ensure integrity and compliance of CAD models, drawings, and associated technical documentation


The ideal candidate would have

  • Experience working within an aerospace, defence, or similarly regulated engineering environment
  • Familiarity with configuration management principles and lifecycle governance
  • Experience supporting or managing engineering change processes in a multi-stakeholder setting
  • Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, ideally within an engineering data environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within close-knit technical teams


The ideal candidate must have

  • A background in Configuration Control or Technical Data Management
  • Evidential experience interpreting technical data and Bills of Materials for large, complex assemblies
  • A high level of attention to detail with a disciplined approach to controlling engineering data and documentation
  • The ability to support audits and ensure configuration compliance across internal teams and external suppliers
