Are you an experienced automotive sales leader looking for a new and exciting challenge? We're recruiting a General Sales Manager to lead the sales performance of our retail operation, driving volume, revenue, margin and customer satisfaction across both new and existing product launches.


This role is ideal for a proven General Sales Manager who wants to help launch a new product to market, build a team from scratch, and shape strong, scalable processes.


This role sits within Jameel Motors UK Auto Retail and is at the centre of an exciting new partnership between Jameel Motors and GAC. You’ll be working specifically on the AION brand, supporting its entry into the UK market as GAC’s dedicated electric vehicle line.


The position is pivotal in helping to establish AION’s presence and driving strong sales performance as its EV range launches in the UK.


About the Role

  • Full ownership of retail sales performance across volume, revenue, margin, and market share.
  • Lead the delivery of sales strategy across both new and used vehicle operations.
  • Build and develop a high‑performing sales team from the ground up.
  • Establish and embed strong sales processes suitable for a start‑up environment.
  • Drive an exceptional customer journey, ensuring transparency, compliance, and consistent standards.
  • Support EV / NEV market entry activity, adapting to evolving customer buying behaviours.
  • Collaborate with Aftersales, Marketing, Finance, and Group functions to maximise commercial performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver retail sales performance in line with targets, monitoring KPIs such as conversion, average selling price, finance and insurance penetration, retention, and stock health.
  • Use data insights to optimise pricing, supply, stock mix, and ageing to maximise commercial outcomes.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Sales Managers, Sales Executives, and support teams, setting clear objectives and maintaining a high‑performance culture.
  • Ensure an exceptional, compliant, and transparent customer experience, responding promptly to feedback and driving continuous improvement.
  • Equip the sales team to confidently sell electric and electrified vehicles, working alongside Aftersales and charging partners to deliver a joined‑up EV proposition.
  • Stay up to date with EV incentives, market trends, and customer adoption barriers to support market entry.
  • Work collaboratively with Aftersales, Marketing, Finance, and Group stakeholders to maximise site performance and support wider commercial initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with manufacturer standards and internal governance while contributing to broader planning and strategy


Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven senior sales leadership experience within a retail automotive environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering sustainable sales growth.
  • Experience managing full retail sales operations, also with a focus on new product launches.
  • Excellent people leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
  • Strong understanding of customer experience and compliance within automotive retail.


Desirable

  • Experience or strong working knowledge of EV / NEV (electric and electrified vehicles).
  • Exposure to leading sales teams through change, transformation or entry to the market.
  • Understanding of evolving customer buying journeys, including digital and omni-channel retailing.
