Job description

A well-established and growing energy solutions business is seeking an experienced Sales Manager - CHP Solutions to support the continued expansion of its Combined Heat and Power (CHP) portfolio. This role focuses on selling CHP systems ranging from 20kW to 2.5MW+, working closely with customers, consultants, and internal teams to deliver technically robust and commercially viable energy solutions.

This position would suit a commercially driven sales professional with experience in CHP, energy, or complex technical sales, who enjoys managing the full sales lifecycle—from initial engagement through to contract signing and beyond.

Responsibilities:

  • Sell a comprehensive range of CHP engines and integrated energy solutions (20kW–2.5MW+).
  • Manage the full sales process from lead generation and initial enquiry through to contract negotiation and order placement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants, and sales partners.
  • Carry out technical and economic appraisals of CHP opportunities using energy data, site visits, and tender documentation.
  • Develop viable:
  • Cogeneration (LTHW),
  • Tri-generation (e.g. Steam),
  • Quad-generation solutions (e.g. Absorption chillers).
  • Prepare, submit, and negotiate complex tender responses, including pricing and commercial terms.
  • Understand the wider energy market, including political and regulatory drivers such as Net Zero, grid connections, and funding mechanisms, to overcome project barriers.
  • Interface effectively with UK-based teams and the 2G headquarters in Germany.
  • Attend and represent the business at trade shows, conferences, and networking events.
  • Maintain a strong sales pipeline while ensuring projects meet minimum margin requirements.

Requirements:

  • 2–3 years’ experience in CHP sales or a closely related energy or technical sales role.
  • Proven experience managing complex tender processes, including site visits and client meetings.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to price, negotiate, and close technically complex projects.
  • Good working knowledge of CHP systems and associated mechanical and electrical principles.
  • Ability to assess early-stage opportunities for technical and commercial viability.
  • Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders (e.g. Managing Directors, Finance Directors, Heads of Sustainability).
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (essential).
  • Engineering degree and additional CHP sales experience are desirable.
