Job Overview

Responsible for performing a variety of tasks and skills to ensure the correct functioning and safety of the building M&E plant and equipment. You may also be required to carry out minor repairs and improvements to the building fabric and their assets.


This role requires you to work 4 days on (2 days, 2 nights) and 4 days off, on rotation.


Main Duties:

  • Lead, support, and develop the maintenance team, overseeing recruitment, induction, training, toolbox talks, and day‑to‑day guidance to ensure high performance and compliance with company standards.
  • Supervise and assist with mechanical and electrical maintenance, including inspections, reactive repairs, asset care, and installation of new equipment while ensuring timely response to faults and service requests.
  • Maintain full compliance with Health & Safety requirements, conducting regular safety equipment checks, monthly building inspections with clients, and reporting hazards or defects to the Area Manager.
  • Manage maintenance planning and task prioritisation, ensuring adherence to schedules, SLA/KPI expectations, and proactive upkeep of all building assets.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting, including maintenance records, inventory tracking, productivity communication, and escalation of issues or recommendations to the Area Manager.
  • Oversee administrative controls, verifying and processing overtime and expenses, approving valid claims, and ensuring timely submission for payroll and financial compliance.
  • Coordinate procurement and resource management, ensuring availability and proper care of tools, equipment, and spare parts necessary for efficient operations.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, liaising professionally with facilities teams, clients, security personnel, and external contractors to support smooth site operations and effective communication.


What we are looking for

Essential Qualification:

  • NVQ Level 3, HNC or City & Guilds - Mechanical Engineering
  • UK Drivers Licence


Interacting & Communicating

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and key stakeholder relationships
  • Knowledge of commercial requirements of contract , KPI's and SLA's
  • Knowledge of all requirements for administration of service excellent
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and a good knowledge of MS office products such as word and excel


Analysing & Reporting

  • Manual dexterity, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to assess asset condition, report findings and solutions in a clear and concise way.
  • Provide guidance to trainee plumbing engineers to support their development and skilled plumbing engineers to support the decision making process.


Adapting & Performing

  • Ability to work on own and as part of a wider team
  • A proactive approach, with a can-do attitude
  • Good physical condition and strength, and ability to work in different environments and heights
  • Stay calm and focused under pressure and be able to clearly communicate with the client in the event of high level issues that may arise.


Other

  • Flexibility and willingness to work overtime, on-call, or during weekends and holidays as needed
