The Role


As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in the development, optimisation, and scale-up of high-volume automated manufacturing systems. Working closely with operations, quality, and product teams, you will deliver automation projects that improve performance while ensuring full compliance within a regulated manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on senior role combining automation, manufacturing engineering, and technical leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead automation and manufacturing engineering projects across high-volume production lines
  • Design, implement, and optimise automated assembly and process control solutions
  • Support the industrialisation of new products, transitioning designs into stable, scalable manufacturing processes
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, throughput, yield, and cost
  • Act as a technical authority for process changes, validation activities, and risk assessments
  • Lead structured root-cause problem-solving and implement sustainable corrective actions
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure compliance with regulated manufacturing standards
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering and production team


About You

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in Automation, Electrical, Controls, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Significant experience in automated, high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Background in medical devices, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or similarly regulated industries
  • Proven project delivery experience across the full engineering lifecycle
  • Strong understanding of process validation, change control, and manufacturing compliance
  • Experience with Lean / Six Sigma or structured continuous improvement methodologies
  • Comfortable operating as a senior technical contributor in a fast-paced environment
