Test and Validation Manager – Greenwich – circa £70,000 + Bonus + Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits
About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Test and Validation Manager to lead both our client's Test Validation and Software teams in a fast-paced, mission-critical R&D environment. This role is part of a succession plan, offering the chance to take full ownership of a key function while growing into broader leadership responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will have proven people management experience, currently leading a team, and a strong technical background in test validation and software with electronic engineering expertise. You’ll combine hands-on technical knowledge with team leadership to shape, mentor, and develop high-performing engineers and technicians, driving continuous improvement and innovation across the function.

What You’ll Do
- Lead, coach, and develop both Test Validation and Software teams, ensuring alignment with engineering and quality standards.
- Define and implement product test and qualification strategies across hardware, firmware, and software.
- Plan and manage resources, priorities, and project deliverables in collaboration with design and product teams.
- Oversee R&D lab operations, budgets, and team performance metrics.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001:2015, HSE, and other quality standards.
- Stay hands-on where needed — mentoring, reviewing test approaches, and supporting product validation directly.
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence across the teams.
- Communicate clearly with stakeholders, fostering transparency, collaboration, and high standards.
About You
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in software and test validation in regulated or high-reliability environments.
- Technical understanding of electronics, firmware/software integration, and power systems.
- Familiarity with certification standards (HV safety, EMI/EMC, thermal, vibration testing).
- Proven leadership and people management skills — experienced in managing and growing teams.
- Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and communication.
- Experience with QMS, PLM tools (e.g., Windchill), and Agile working is a plus.
Desirable
- Experience in automotive, aerospace, defence, rail, or other highly regulated sectors.
- Knowledge of systems engineering or test automation.
- Understanding of product certification or cybersecurity compliance.
