Supplier Quality Engineer

Location: Reading, UK

Industry: Manufacturing

You will work closely with suppliers, procurement, engineering, and production teams to resolve quality issues, reduce risk, and support new product introductions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage supplier quality performance, including audits, scorecards, and corrective actions
• Lead supplier quality investigations using structured problem-solving tools (e.g. 8D, Root Cause Analysis)
• Support new supplier qualification and onboarding activities
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to reduce defects and improve processes
• Review and approve supplier PPAPs, FAIRs, and other quality documentation
• Collaborate with internal teams on change management, deviations, and non-conformances
• Monitor and report supplier KPIs and quality trends
• Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards and regulatory requirements

About You

• Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field
• Proven experience in a Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or Manufacturing Quality role
• Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g. PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC)
• Experience working with external suppliers in a manufacturing environment
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
• Willingness to travel to supplier sites as required

Desirable

• Experience in regulated or high-reliability manufacturing environments
• Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 or equivalent)
• Six Sigma or Lean certification
