Autism Assessment Psychologist (Adults & Children) - Remote (UK) and/or Leeds (in-person)

Rates & Working Arrangements

  • £350 per remote assessment
  • £400 per on-site assessment (Leeds)
  • Up to 4 assessments per day
  • Assessment hours: 08:00–22:00, Monday–Sunday


Overview


A clinician-led neurodevelopmental service is expanding its Autism Assessment provision for adults and children and is seeking experienced HCPC-registered psychologists to join its assessor team. The role involves delivering high-quality, evidence-based autism assessments within a robust clinical governance framework and a neuro-affirming, patient-centred approach.

You will manage the full assessment pathway end-to-end, integrating standardised tools, clinical interview, developmental history, and observation, and producing clear, defensible diagnostic reports.


Key Responsibilities


  • Deliver autism diagnostic assessments for adults and/or children (remote and/or Leeds clinic)
  • Complete clinical interview, functional impact assessment, and neurodevelopmental history
  • Review and integrate collateral information (family, informants, records)
  • Use and interpret assessment tools including AQ10, RAADS, CAT-Q, and AQ50
  • Undertake and document structured behavioural observation (e.g. ADOS-2 or agreed alternative)
  • Formulate diagnostic outcomes using recognised frameworks (DSM/ICD), including differential diagnosis
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic reports within agreed timeframes
  • Provide professional, sensitive feedback sessions with psychoeducation and recommendations
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with governance, safeguarding, and GDPR requirements


Essential Criteria

  • HCPC registration as a Psychologist, one of the following:
  • Clinical Psychologist
  • Counselling Psychologist
  • Forensic Psychologist
  • Educational Psychologist
  • Experience independently completing autism assessments
  • Strong understanding of autism presentations across the lifespan
  • Excellent clinical report-writing skills
  • Commitment to neuro-affirming, evidence-based practice
  • Appropriate professional indemnity
  • For remote work: private clinical space and own equipment


Desirable

  • ADOS-2 training and experience (relevant modules)
  • Experience with structured autism interviews (e.g. ADI-R, DISCO, 3Di)
  • Experience within NHS or NHS-commissioned pathways (including Right to Choose)
