Project Engineer – C&I | Deliver high-impact engineering projects that help power millions of UK homes with zero-carbon energy.


This role places you at the heart of the UK’s nuclear energy programme, working on complex, safety-critical projects with lasting national impact.

Based predominantly at Torness Power Station on Scotland’s east coast, you will contribute to the continued operation and development of a site that has generated over 290TWh of zero-carbon electricity since 1988, supplying power to more than 2 million UK homes.

You will be supported by experienced leaders while developing your project engineering and technical leadership capability.


Key Responsibilities


  • Produce and maintain engineering documentation, including quality plans and technical specifications
  • Manage technical queries in line with approved processes and procedures
  • Support contractor selection, tender evaluation and contract placement
  • Review contractor designs, drawings and technical submissions
  • Carry out technical appraisals of project options and engineering solutions
  • Undertake feasibility studies, site surveys and stakeholder liaison
  • Prepare engineering changes and manage impacted documentation
  • Develop commissioning documentation and lead test teams where required
  • Support safe, timely and compliant project delivery on site


Qualifications & Requirements


  • Chartered Engineer status or HNC (or equivalent experience)
  • SMSTS qualification
  • Experience delivering projects in highly regulated environments
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and construction delivery
  • Strong understanding of safety, environmental and quality standards
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Project management qualification desirable but not essential
  • Power station or nuclear site experience advantageous
