Are you a visionary engineer who isn’t afraid to get your hands dirty? Gozney is seeking a Principal Engineer to spearhead the development of our next generation of world-class outdoor ovens.

This is a crucial role for a dynamic professional who balances technical mastery with a "maker" mindset. You will lead products from the initial spark of an idea through to mass production, ensuring every oven meets our exacting standards for performance, aesthetics, and reliability. We aren’t just looking for a CAD expert; we need a pioneer who is comfortable in the workshop, fearless in the face of failure, and capable of collaborating across teams to bring industry-shifting products to life.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Design Leadership:

• End-to-End Ownership: Lead the design and development of new outdoor oven products from initial concept through to final production.
• The "Maker" Approach: Take a hands-on approach to engineering—actively building, testing, and refining prototypes in the workshop to accelerate the innovation cycle.
• Cross-Functional Synergy: Partner with R&D, Marketing, and Sales to ensure designs are not only technically superior but also perfectly aligned with market demands and business goals.

Rapid Prototyping & Experimental Testing

• Fearless Innovation: Embrace a bold, experimental mindset. You should be comfortable with high-energy experiments and controlled risk-taking—even if it means blowing things up in the name of progress.
• Hands-on Fabrication: Lead prototyping efforts using a variety of tools, including angle grinders, welding, and 3D printing, to create functional proof-of-concepts.
• Technical Integration: Integrate and test complex electronic systems (sensors, controllers, ignition) and gas burner assemblies for peak performance and safety.
• Rigorous Validation: Conduct thermal, structural, and durability testing, iterating designs rapidly based on real-world data and "fail fast" methodologies.

Global Manufacturing & Feasibility

• International Collaboration: Serve as the technical bridge to our manufacturing team in China, ensuring designs are optimized for production and facilitating a seamless exchange of technical data.
• DFM (Design for Manufacturing): Conduct thorough feasibility assessments, evaluating cost implications, supply chain logistics, and production practicality early in the design phase.
• Documentation Excellence: Produce comprehensive 3D models, technical drawings, specifications, and design verification plans (DVP) to ensure quality at scale.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
• Proven experience in a technical role, preferably in product development for consumer goods with knowledge of gas products.
• Strong understanding of outdoor oven technology, gas system components, combustion processes, thermodynamics, materials science and safety standards.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and contribute to technical aspects of projects.
• Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other design tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• There is an expectation of this role to be office based at our Bournemouth offices 3-4 days per week
