Senior Scientist - CAR T Cells

VRS Recruitment is looking for a Senior Scientist - CAR T Cells

Job description

A pharmaceutical company is looking for a driven and curious Senior Scientist with strong experience in CAR T cell design, synthesis and in-vitro functional testing. This role sits at the heart of an exciting research programme applying CAR T technology to targeted cell depletion, with longer-term potential across drug discovery, immune reset and tissue regeneration.

You’ll play a hands-on role in shaping and advancing a growing platform at the intersection of cellular immunotherapy and regenerative medicine, working alongside highly collaborative, cross-functional teams.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing and constructing CAR T cell vectors targeting selected antigens
  • Developing and optimising CAR T cell synthesis, transduction and expansion protocols
  • Running in-vitro functional assays, including cytotoxicity, cytokine release and persistence studies
  • Supporting drug discovery programmes focused on immune modulation and tissue repair
  • Analysing data, preparing technical reports and presenting findings internally
  • Keeping up to date with emerging CAR T technologies and feeding ideas into platform strategy

What we’re looking for

  • MSc or PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with CAR T cell design and functional testing
  • Strong background in vector construction, T cell engineering and in-vitro assays
  • Solid understanding of immune cell biology and targeted cell depletion
  • Comfortable working independently while thriving in a collaborative, fast-moving environment
  • Clear communicator with strong problem-solving skills and great attention to detail

This is a genuine opportunity to work on forward-thinking science with real long-term impact, in an environment that values ideas, ownership and collaboration.

This role is offered on an initial 12 month contract with potential for extension
