Location: UK-wide (national travel to solar PV project sites)

Employment Type: Permanent

Sector: Solar PV (utility-scale / large commercial)

Working Hours: Project dependent (site-based schedule)

Reports to: HSE Manager / Project Manager


Role Overview

The HSE Supervisor will support day-to-day site HSE delivery on solar PV projects, ensuring all works are planned and executed safely, and that subcontractors comply with project standards and UK legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of the Project HSE Plan and site rules across all solar PV construction activities.
  • Deliver and record site inductions, toolbox talks, and daily briefings.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, safety walks, and observations; raise NCRs and track close-out actions.
  • Review RAMS and assist in ensuring safe systems of work are followed on-site.
  • Monitor high-risk activities including working at height, lifting operations, plant/machinery, excavations, temporary works, traffic management, and electrical safety controls.
  • Ensure PTW/LOTO processes are followed where required and escalate non-compliance.
  • Support incident reporting and investigations; collect evidence, statements, and assist with corrective actions.
  • Maintain HSE documentation and records (training matrix, permits, inspections, toolbox registers).
  • Promote positive safety culture and intervene immediately on unsafe acts/conditions.
  • Liaise daily with site management and subcontractor supervision to remove barriers to safe delivery.

Required Experience

  • Construction site HSE experience with solar PV project exposure (required).
  • Confident working with subcontractors and challenging unsafe practices.
  • Good understanding of UK construction safety standards and documentation.

Essential Qualifications

  • NEBOSH / NVQ equivalent OR SMSTS with HSE experience.
  • First Aid qualification (in-date).
  • CSCS card (appropriate level).

Desirable

  • SSSTS (if not holding SMSTS).
  • IPAF / PASMA, Fire Marshal.
  • Banksman / Slinger Signaller awareness.
  • Experience supporting grid connection works or substations.
