Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer - Scotland

Confidential is looking for a Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer - Scotland

Job description

Senior / Principal / Lead Electrical Engineer

Dumbarton, Scotland (with flexibility)

**Re-locate to a stunning area of Scotland, or let's talk travel and flexibility**

Energy Solutions | Cutting‑Edge Engineering | Real Impact

Looking for a role where your engineering decisions actually move from concept to production quickly, not months lost in paperwork, lengthy approval chains, and design-by-committee?

How about doing that work with a respected global brand known for keeping customers powered, supported, and “on”?

If so, this might be the right moment to explore something new.

What We’re Building

Our specialist engineering and manufacturing teams work at pace - designing, developing, testing and validating mission‑critical electrical solutions that need to perform in the real world. This is hands‑on, high‑impact engineering where you’ll see your ideas turn into products, not sit in a pipeline.

We’re currently hiring Senior, Principal and Lead Electrical Engineers to help shape next‑generation energy technologies. You’ll work across the full life-cycle: concept and architecture, design, prototyping, validation and supporting production.

If you’re motivated by solving tough engineering challenges—and owning the results—this is the kind of team where you can do your best work. Patent opportunities are part of the journey too.

Where You’ll Be (If You Want To Be)

Our base is on the outskirts of Dumbarton on Scotland’s west coast—an area surrounded by some of the most remarkable landscapes in the UK:

  • Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park
  • Mountains, forests, lochs, walks and coastline
  • A quieter pace of life, minutes from Glasgow when you want city energy

For engineers & their families who value the outdoors, fresh air, space and an easy commute, it’s a great place to build a life.

We can offer relocation support, and visa sponsorship can be available for the right person, and for those excited by the idea of living in picturesque part of Scotland, and having a direct impact on the engineering solutions for the products.

Not Planning to Relocate? That’s OK Too.

If the engineering challenge is what excites you but you’re not looking to move permanently:

  • We’re open to conversations about how regular on‑site collaboration could work.
  • The nature of our products means you’ll need meaningful time with the team, the hardware and our workshops,
  • but we are flexible and supportive in figuring out the right rhythm, including potential support for travel.

If you’re passionate about the work and opportunity, we’ll explore the options together.

What You’ll Work On

  • Architecture, design, development and test of high‑reliability electrical systems
  • Collaborating closely with mechanical, manufacturing and embedded teams
  • Rapid prototyping and hands‑on validation
  • Leading technical decisions and influencing product direction
  • Applying strong engineering fundamentals to real-world problems
  • Opportunities to own patents and contribute to IP strategy
  • Being part of a culture that values curiosity, diversity, teamwork and practical innovation

Who You Are

We’re looking for engineers who bring some combination of:

  • Strong experience in electrical / electronic engineering
  • Systems thinking and a practical approach to problem solving
  • Comfort working in an environment where ideas progress quickly
  • The ability to lead, mentor, or set technical direction at senior levels
  • A collaborative mindset—valuing different viewpoints and working styles
  • Curiosity, initiative and a desire to make a measurable impact

We encourage applications from all backgrounds and experience pathways. What matters most is your engineering capability, your approach, and your appetite for meaningful work.

Let’s Talk

Whether you’re considering a move to Scotland’s west coast—or you simply want to be part of work that genuinely matters—apply today for a confidential conversation, without any commitment.
