A E F C is a grassroots football club competing in open-age men’s football. A E F C operates across multiple venues in Manchester and is committed to creating a positive, disciplined and welcoming culture on and off the pitch.


Role Description

This is a volunteer, on-site role in Manchester for a First Team Head Coach leading the club’s open-age men’s first team. The Head Coach will plan and deliver one structured training session every Thursday and will lead the team on Sunday matchdays.


The role is responsible for setting the football direction of the team, establishing a clear playing identity, and building a committed, team-first environment. Key duties include planning and delivering progressive training sessions, managing matchday preparation and delivery, making selection and in-game tactical decisions, and maintaining standards for attendance, punctuality and behaviour. The Head Coach will also support recruitment and trials, communicate clearly with players and club leadership, and promote a safe, respectful and inclusive culture.


Qualifications

  • Experience leading open-age football at grassroots level
  • A track record of competing for titles, cups or top finishes at open-age level is strongly preferred
  • Ability to plan and deliver structured sessions with clear objectives and progression
  • Strong matchday leadership, including selection, substitutions and in-game management
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to set and maintain standards consistently
  • Strong organisation and reliability, including weekly planning and clear communication
  • UEFA C Licence is required and must be completed
  • UEFA B Licence is highly desirable, including coaches actively working towards UEFA B
  • Willingness to complete required safeguarding checks, including DBS where applicable
