Job description

Full-Stack Engineer – Early-Stage AI Platform

About the role

A high-growth AI startup is looking for an exceptional full-stack engineer to join as one of their first hires. The company is building a platform that automates complex workflows for professional services, enabling users to draft documents, analyse orders, summarise transcripts, and quickly locate key information.

This is a unique opportunity to work closely with a small founding team, shipping production code from day one and owning major features end-to-end. You will engage with users to understand their needs, scope problems, develop solutions, and continuously improve them.

Responsibilities

  • Work across the full stack, including cloud infrastructure, backend (Python), frontend (Next.js with TypeScript), and databases (PostgreSQL)
  • Collaborate with users to understand workflows and requirements
  • Architect and scale document ingestion and processing pipelines for fast, accurate data extraction
  • Develop intelligent multi-step AI workflows to automate complex tasks
  • Design intuitive, AI-native user experiences tailored to professional workflows
  • Improve system performance, stability, and observability as the platform scales
  • Contribute to engineering culture, including best practices, mentorship, and hiring

Requirements

  • Self-directed and highly capable
  • Passionate about building outstanding products for demanding users
  • Excited by hard problems, with high ownership and a bias for shipping
  • Strong product judgement, communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Bonus: interest or experience in legal tech, document processing, or AI workflows

Why this opportunity is compelling

  • Be part of a small founding team shaping a category-defining company
  • Work directly with major professional services firms in the UK and US
  • Significant ownership and equity potential
  • Early influence on engineering culture and product direction

Details

  • Location: London, hybrid (minimum 3 days/week in office)
  • Salary: £100–130k, plus meaningful equity
