Site Engineer- Renewable Energy (Solar & Bess)

About the Company

A global EPC organisation listed on the London Stock Exchange is seeking a number of Site Engineers to support its expanding UK Renewable Energy division with a growing portfolio of utility-scale Solar and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects.


About the Role

Looking for experienced Electrical / Civil and Mechanical Site Engineers to support the delivery of utility-scale solar PV power plants (5 MW and above).This is a site-based role focused on supervising electrical installation works, ensuring compliance with UK standards, and supporting successful project delivery from construction through commissioning.

You will work closely with the Construction Manager, project team, and subcontractors to ensure electrical works are completed safely, on time, and to specification.



Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervise and coordinate on-site works for utility-scale solar PV projects
  • Review and interpret electrical designs, including PV layouts, DC/AC cabling, inverter stations, substations, and single-line diagrams
  • Identify design discrepancies or constructability issues and report to the Construction Manager
  • Provide daily progress updates on construction activities, programme status, and material deliveries
  • Monitor and control electrical materials on site, including inverters, transformers, switchgear, cables, and containment
  • Ensure all works comply with UK standards, project specifications, and HSE requirements
  • Support inspections, snagging, testing, commissioning, and energisation activities
  • Assist with the preparation of as-built drawings and handover documentation



Qualifications required:

  • University or Technical Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering



The Successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an Electrical Site Engineer or similar role
  • Previous experience on utility-scale solar PV projects (+5 MW)
  • Strong knowledge of MV/LV systems, earthing, cable installation, and grid connection works
  • Excellent use of English
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel)
  • Advanced use of AutoCAD software
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Construction experience
  • Technical competence
  • CSCS/ECS card and UK driving licence
