Production Maintenance Shift Engineer


Hatfield (On-site)

£46,000 + £3,600 on-call allowance


We’re looking for an experienced Production Maintenance Shift Engineer to join our established maintenance team at our Hatfield Head Office. This is a key role within the MHE (Material Handling Equipment) department, focused on keeping critical systems operating safely, reliably, and to the highest standards.

This is a fully on-site role, working five days a week on a rotating shift pattern.

Shift Pattern


  • 06:00 – 14:00
  • 14:00 – 22:00


The Role


You’ll be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and reliability of automated material handling systems in a fast-paced operational environment. Key responsibilities include:


  • Electrical maintenance of material handling equipment
  • Fault finding and testing on PLC and three-phase systems
  • Responding to breakdowns and completing planned maintenance activities
  • Providing emergency response for critical equipment failures
  • Maintaining machinery in line with agreed safety and performance standards
  • Identifying, reporting, and rectifying defects promptly
  • Supporting facilities and site activities when required
  • Completing timesheets, maintenance documentation, and stock control
  • Ordering consumables and managing associated administration


What We’re Looking For


  • Qualified, time-served technician with a strong electrical background
  • Proven fault-finding experience in a production or operational environment
  • PLC experience (advantageous but not essential)
  • Experience maintaining automated material handling equipment or similar systems
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and a strong team player
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Comfortable working at heights
  • Strong practical understanding of health & safety requirements
  • Health & Safety training or certification, including high-bay racking access and controlled descent rescue procedures


Qualifications


  • City & Guilds or BTEC in Electrical Engineering
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Working knowledge of automated material handling equipment
