About the Role

We are seeking an organised, reliable, and professional Medical Secretary to join our busy medical practice. The successful candidate will provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support to clinicians, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the service and excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing appointments, referrals, and patient correspondence
  • Audio and/or digital typing of medical letters and reports
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and filing systems
  • Handling telephone and email enquiries in a professional manner
  • Liaising with clinicians, patients, and external healthcare providers
  • Ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a medical or healthcare administrative role
  • Excellent typing and IT skills (including Microsoft Office)
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
  • Professional manner with good communication skills
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and GDPR

Desirable

  • Medical terminology knowledge
  • Experience using clinical systems (Carebit)
  • Audio typing experience
