Role: Electronics Software Engineer

Location: Knutsford, Cheshire

Salary: Up to £60,000

We’re working with an innovative engineering business based in Knutsford, specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke electronic devices used by customers across Europe. As their products continue to grow in complexity and demand, they’re now looking to add an Electronics Software Engineer to their close-knit engineering team.

This is a hands-on role offering real involvement across the full product lifecycle — from early concept and prototyping through to production and ongoing development.

As an Electronics Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining electronics and embedded software for custom systems. You’ll work closely with electronics, embedded software and mechanical engineers to deliver reliable, high-quality products tailored to customer requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing electronic circuits and multilayer PCBs
• Designing and developing embedded/software solutions for electronic devices
• Writing, testing, and debugging software for new and existing products
• Supporting hardware integration and system-level testing
• Contributing to technical documentation and design reviews
• Assisting with fault-finding and continuous product improvement

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in software development for electronic or embedded systems
• Strong programming skills in C
• Mixed signal electronic circuit design
• PCB design and layout
• Understanding of microcontrollers and hardware-software integration
• Experience with communication protocols (e.g. SPI, I²C, UART, CAN)
• Comfortable working on bespoke, low-to-medium volume products
• A practical, problem-solving mindset with good attention to detail
