Senior Application Engineer – Investment Management – Manchester

Up to £70,000 per annum + benefits

Hybrid working – 3 days a week on site in Manchester

We are partnering with a global Investment Manager who is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to join them on a permanent basis and drive backend, cloud-based application development. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the technical strategy within the backend domain, demonstrating deep technical expertise, and promoting engineering excellence across teams.

You will play a key role in mentoring junior engineers, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and leading best practices across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience building distributed, scalable microservices and applying secure API design principles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and/or Kotlin, Spring Boot, OAuth 2.0, and secure APIs.
• Experience working in cloud-based environments, with a preference for AWS and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong advocate for best development practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD).
• Experience participating in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, deployment, and maintenance.
