Commercial Electrician – Solar PV


An established commercial renewable energy contractor is looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Electrician to support the delivery of large-scale Solar PV projects across the UK.


This role is ideal for a qualified electrician with strong commercial experience who is looking to build a long-term career within the renewable energy sector, working on technically interesting and high-impact projects.


Salary & Benefits


  • Salary from £40,000 to £50,000, depending on experience
  • Company vehicle provided, with reasonable personal use

  • 4-day working weeks from spring through to the end of summer, subject to project requirements


Location & Travel


  • Candidates would need to be located around the Runcorn, Doncaster or Macclesfield area, as this is where the current teams are based.
  • Remote work
  • Projects delivered nationwide, with regular travel and staying away required


The Role


You will be responsible for the installation and commissioning of renewable energy systems, predominantly Solar PV, across commercial and industrial sites. This includes integrating renewable technologies into existing plant rooms and three-phase power systems.

Projects are delivered across England, so flexibility to travel and stay away from home on a regular basis is essential.


Key Responsibilities


  • Installation and commissioning of commercial-scale Solar PV systems
  • Ensuring installations are completed to a high standard and in line with health and safety requirements
  • Working on three-phase systems and within plant room environments
  • Supporting project delivery across multiple UK sites


Experience & Requirements


  • Qualified Electrician with ECS Gold Card
  • Proven experience in commercial electrical environments, including three-phase systems and plant rooms
  • Strong ability to read and implement electrical drawings
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations essential
  • Level 3 Inspection and Testing (2391 or equivalent)
  • Solar PV experience desirable but not essential
  • SSSTS desirable but not essential
  • Team-focused approach with strong attention to quality and safety
  • Full UK driving licence, maximum 6 points, and aged 25 or over for insurance purposes
  • Right to work in the UK is essential as no sponsorships can be provided for this role
  • Willingness to travel and stay away nationally
