Senior Technical Manager

MostonRECRUIT is looking for a Senior Technical Manager

Job description

Senior Technical Manager

Lead Engineering Excellence in a 24/7 Acute Healthcare Environment

Are you a senior engineering leader ready to take ownership of safety-critical services where your decisions directly impact patient care?

We’re seeking a Senior Technical Manager to lead multidisciplinary technical teams across mechanical, electrical, building fabric, and project delivery services within a complex acute hospital estate.

This is a high-impact leadership role where compliance, performance, and clinical continuity are non-negotiable.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, you’ll provide strategic and operational leadership across estates engineering — ensuring statutory compliance, SLA performance, financial control, and service excellence in a live healthcare environment.

You’ll act as the senior technical authority, lead governance and safety forums, deputise when required, and drive continuous improvement and digital transformation across maintenance delivery.

What You’ll Lead

  • Safety-critical mechanical and electrical systems including ventilation, water safety, and medical gases
  • Planned preventative and reactive maintenance performance
  • Statutory compliance, audit readiness, and governance assurance
  • Financial forecasting, cost control, and KPI performance
  • Multidisciplinary teams including managers, supervisors, and operatives
  • Continuous improvement and modernisation of maintenance systems

Why This Role Matters

This isn’t standard estates management.

You’ll operate in a 24/7 clinical environment where engineering performance supports theatres, critical care, diagnostics, and infection control. Missed standards aren’t inconvenient — they’re critical.

What We’re Looking For

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering/Building Services
  • Significant experience in healthcare or other safety-critical environments
  • Strong compliance and governance knowledge
  • Proven leadership of technical teams
  • Experience managing PPM systems and contract performance
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)

If you’re ready to lead high-performing technical teams in an environment where engineering excellence protects lives — we want to hear from you.
