Commercial Solar PV Team Leader – Panel Installer


A well-established commercial solar contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Lead Panel Installer to support nationwide commercial projects across the UK.


This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced solar installer who enjoys leading from the front, working on large-scale PV installations, and delivering projects safely and efficiently.


Salary & Benefits


  • Salary from £35,000 to £45,000, depending on experience
  • Company vehicle provided, with reasonable personal use

  • 4-day working weeks from spring through to the end of summer, subject to project requirements


Location & Travel


  • Candidates would need to be based in Runcorn, Doncaster or Macclesfield areas as this is where our teams are based.
  • Remote work
  • Work is nationwide, with regular travel and staying away required


The Role


You will be responsible for installing commercial-scale solar PV systems across commercial, and industrial sites, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and teamwork.


Key Responsibilities


  • Preparing installation sites, including clearing and levelling surfaces where required
  • Assembling mounting systems and installing PV panels using hand and power tools
  • Installing wiring, inverters, and system components, with final connections completed by a qualified electrician
  • Working closely with site teams to deliver projects safely and on schedule
  • Maintaining a clean, organised work area and strict adherence to health and safety requirements


Experience & Requirements


  • Proven experience using hand tools, power tools, and mechanical assembly
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read drawings and schematics
  • Prior experience in solar or renewable energy installation is essential
  • Demonstrable experience delivering Solar PV systems over 500kW
  • Electrical knowledge or previous electrical experience is highly desirable
  • Physically fit and comfortable with lifting, climbing, and working at height
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Full UK driving licence, maximum 6 points, and aged 25 or over for insurance purposes
  • Willingness to travel and stay away nationally


Mandatory Certifications


  • CSCS card
  • IPAF licence
  • Telehandler licence
  • Right to work in UK is essential as no sponsorships will be available for this position
