Are you an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to step up to Commercial Manager or a hands-on Commercial Manager that enjoys delivering projects cradle to grave?

Our client is an established SME civil engineering contractor, specialising in Builders Work, Soft Strip, Demolition, Structural Alterations, Cut & Carve and Groundworks.

As the ideal candidate, you will have experience and enjoy working on the full project life cycle from pricing and tendering works from 1st Principles through to Final Accounts, to be able to work independently, in a business with no politics and with the freedom to make your own decisions.

Commercial Manager roles and responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for pricing projects and work packages, and delivering projects under D&B JCT & small works contracts.
• Day to day team management and contract administration of projects from £50k to £2.7m, acting as either a specialist subcontractor or Principle Contractor.
• Attending client and site visits to support site teams and leverage additional works.
• Review and agree contracts for prospective works, identifying and minimising potential RISK, prepare monthly forecasting, CVR’s and budget reports for the board.
• Ensure timely management and issuing of specialist sub-contract orders, submittal of applications to clients, management of any change, claims and Final Accounts.

Commercial Manager requirements:

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or similar qualification and relevant experience
• At least 8 years’ experience working for a specialist contractor delivering Builders Work &/or Soft Strip, Demolition, Structural Alterations, Cut & Carve and Groundworks.
• Able to price works from 1st Principles, with full project lifecycle delivery experience.
• Able to work independently and confident in making your own decisions.
