Job description

We are seeking an Electrician or Instrument Technician to join the Shift Operations team at a major manufacturing site in Irvine.


What You’ll Do:


  • Ensure safety standards and environmental policies are adhered to at all times
  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Troubleshoot plant and equipment faults within a continuous process environment
  • Undertake equipment refurbishments
  • Perform core cutter duties
  • Form part of the site-wide Emergency Response Team
  • Maximise availability and reliability across the production process and CHP plant
  • Work within a structured shift rota, including flexibility to cover absence and holidays as required


You will have:


  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship in Electrical or Instrumentation
  • HNC qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience within a manufacturing or continuous process environment
  • Strong analytical and fault-finding skills
  • The ability to maintain and repair plant and equipment safely and efficiently


You’ll be self-motivated, safety-focused, and an excellent communicator who can work independently as well as part of a team.


Preferred Experience:


  • Industrial automation equipment
  • PLC/DCS systems
  • LV and HV switchgear (up to 11kV)
  • Variable speed drives, AC & DC motors
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and documentation
  • Maintenance management systems
  • Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation, including Electricity at Work Regulations (1989), Permit to Work and LOTO systems


Training will be provided where required.
