A leading commercial explosive manufacturer in the UK is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their team, based on-site at their production facility in Alfreton, Derbyshire. This role offers the chance to be an integral part of a team responsible for the mechanical upkeep and optimisation of a high-hazard production plant.

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer:
- Carrying out maintenance, compliance checks, and improvement work on a wide range of mechanical plant and associated systems, specifically within a live production environment.
- Focusing on proactive plant maintenance to reduce downtime and minimise reactive maintenance.
- Working on industrial pumps and other critical mechanical systems across the production facility.
- Ensuring all mechanical equipment meets industry and company standards, especially within a COMAH-regulated environment.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Proven experience in a Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Fitter role, ideally within a production or manufacturing environment.
- Experience working on pumps and modern mechanical machinery.
- Time-served qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
- Solid understanding of general plant and machine maintenance principles.
Desirable Skills:
- Prior experience working on a COMAH site.
