A leading specialist distributor of industrial automation and control components. With decades of experience supporting engineers, OEMs, and end users, we pride ourselves on technical expertise, strong supplier partnerships, and exceptional customer service.

As part of our continued growth strategy, we are seeking an ambitious and results-driven Business Development Manager to expand our market presence and drive new revenue opportunities.


The Role

As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities across key industrial sectors. This is a strategic and hands-on role, combining proactive prospecting with relationship management and commercial negotiation.

You will work closely with internal sales, marketing, and technical teams to deliver tailored automation solutions that meet customer needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and target new business opportunities within industrial automation markets
  • Develop and execute strategic territory and account plans
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, system integrators, panel builders, and end users
  • Deliver technical and commercial presentations to prospective clients
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through to contract negotiation and closure
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities
  • Achieve and exceed agreed revenue and margin targets
  • Provide regular pipeline forecasts and activity reports


Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven track record in business development or technical sales within industrial automation, controls, or electrical components
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical product solutions
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, and highly organised
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a field-based role
  • Full UK driving licence


Desirable Experience

  • Experience selling PLCs, sensors, drives, HMIs, control gear, or related automation products
  • Established industry network within manufacturing or engineering sectors
  • CRM experience and structured pipeline management
