Technical Sales Engineer
Location: Remote, UK, Kent HQ (UK travel required)
Type: Full-time, Permanent
An established and growing engineering business is looking to appoint a Technical Sales Engineer to support continued expansion across automotive, aerospace and specialist manufacturing sectors.
This role combines customer-facing sales with technical solution development. You will work closely with design and project teams to deliver accurate, commercially sound proposals for bespoke tooling, machinery and engineered solutions.
This is a commercially focused, technically credible sales role selling bespoke engineered solutions, built for someone who understands tooling, fixtures and manufacturing processes and now wants to use that credibility to win engineered solution business. This is not catalogue sales.
It’s consultative, technical and project led.
The Role
This role suits someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering and commercial problem‑solving, someone who enjoys getting hands‑on with technical detail while building strong, long‑term customer relationships.
Reporting to the Technical Sales Manager, you will:
- Manage and grow existing key accounts
- Identify and develop new business opportunities
- Handle RFQs from initial enquiry through to quotation and order
- Work closely with in-house design and project teams to develop accurate, commercially sound proposals
- Conduct customer meetings (on-site and virtual) across the UK and occasionally Europe
This role blends technical understanding with structured, consultative sales.
What You’ll Be Selling
- Bespoke tooling and fixtures
- Assembly and inspection equipment
- Production tooling and mould solutions
- Special purpose machinery and engineered systems
- Low-volume and specialist manufacturing solutions
Key skills / Experience required:
- Exposure to automotive and/or aerospace manufacturing
- Experience in technical or capital equipment sales
- ability and willingness to learn about and understand our products
- Comfortable in technically detailed discussions
- An engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent) or have demonstrable experience within engineering/technical role.
- Is comfortable discussing tooling, tolerances and manufacturing methods
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
Advantageous:
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics or electronics
- Experience with composite, forming or lamination tooling
