Job description
We have partnered with a UK-based specialist contractor delivering commercial rooftop solar PV installations nationwide is seeking an experienced Lead Solar Installer to join its growing team. The business focuses on the DC side of solar projects, including roof works, mounting systems, panel installation, DC cabling, inverter mounting and testing.
Projects are delivered across mainland UK using experienced, hands-on teams committed to safe, efficient and high-quality installation standards.
The Role
This is a full-time, site-based position delivering commercial rooftop solar PV installations across mainland UK. The role involves working away Monday to Friday, with regular nationwide travel. This is a hands-on leadership position. The successful candidate will actively participate in all installation activities, including commercial roof works, mounting systems, panel installation, DC cable management, inverter mounting and testing, while leading the on-site installation team.
As the day-to-day site lead, responsibilities will include coordinating labour, managing materials and access equipment, and sequencing works to meet programme deadlines. You will ensure all activities are carried out safely, in line with RAMS, UK health and safety regulations, and project drawings and specifications.
Quality control is central to the role. You will conduct on-site checks, resolve installation issues, uphold high workmanship standards, and ensure works are prepared for inspection and sign-off. Daily progress reporting, issue escalation and liaison with senior management will be required to support smooth project delivery.

Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial solar panel installation, troubleshooting and maintenance
- Strong leadership capability with experience supervising installation teams
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and site plans
- Solid understanding of renewable energy safety protocols and compliance standards
- Practical problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to site requirements
- Clear communication and strong organisational skills
- Experience working at height and using relevant tools and equipment
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling and heavy equipment work
