Job description

Waterman Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Leeds Building Services team. This role offers the opportunity to lead and deliver innovative, sustainable engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects including commercial office developments, retail, industrial, and residential schemes.


You will play a key role in project delivery, mentoring junior engineers, and building strong relationships with clients and the wider design team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems including HVAC, heating and cooling systems, ventilation and public health services.
  • Prepare and review calculations, technical specifications, reports and detailed design drawings.
  • Coordinate designs using Revit (desirable) or IES modelling software.
  • Take responsibility for project deliverables, programme management and quality assurance.
  • Attend and lead client and design team meetings.
  • Liaise with architects, structural engineers, contractors and other consultants.
  • Undertake site inspections and provide technical support during construction stages.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers within the team.


About You

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
  • Significant experience within a building services consultancy environment
  • Proven experience delivering projects across commercial, retail, industrial and residential sectors
  • Proficient in Revit (desirable) or experienced in IES modelling
  • Strong understanding of UK regulations, CIBSE guidance, and industry standards
  • Chartered status or working towards (IEng/CEng) preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage directly with clients
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and lead projects independently
